Birmingham vs London: Match Preview
Posted by: r2k
With just a few days to go, Birmingham Salvo and London Mint have flown out to LA and are getting prepared to do battle to see who will be crowned the UK Regional Champion of Season 2.
Last year in the first ever CGS UK Regional Final it was London Mint that destroyed Birmingham Salvo 31-19 by winning 4 out of the 5 games played. In the World Finals however the London Mint was knocked out first game of the tournament while Birmingham Salvo went past 2 top teams but went out to the eventual winners that was the Chicago Chimera.
Now we are ready for the UK finals once more between Birmingham Salvo and London Mint and here is my preview and predictions for this match:
This I would say is the classic rivalry of two of the biggest names in the UK Dead or Alive scene, Messy vs Paddaman. Last year Paddaman beat Messy in the Finals, but Messy managed to get back at Paddaman in the Semi-Finals of the 2008 UK/EU Combine and then went on to win the Combine itself. The momentum of this game certainly seems to be in Messy's favour but never doubt Paddaman's ability to shine in the toughest of games.
Prediction: 5-3 to Messy
Another big rivalry in the UK, the Watford Wonder Bazza up against the Franchised Player of the London Mint, ChrisyB. Last year ChrisyB narrowly defeated Bazza during the UK Finals. ChrisyB is still number one at the moment and continued to show that super skill in 2008 UK/EU combine where he came runner-up to Stockholm's IstvaN where as Bazza was beaten by the talented Shara in the 2nd round. Now its crunch time though, I've spoken to Bazza recently in an interview and ChrisyB online, they both feel absolutely ready for this and I think this is going to be too close to call.
Prediction: 2-1 to ChrisyB
New game, same format! London Mint retained their drivers for this season which of course are the excellent teamplayers Stune & NT 101. Birmingham retained the cool and collected DaveySkills and also a new but extremely fast player in Picaso. In Forza 2, its all about the start and that first corner and if you haven't seen the North Amercian season so far, you are truly missing out. Stune and NT 101 are both great mates and know each other so well, there tactics will surely be up to speed. My guess is though that London will want to take out Picaso as he is truly a speed demon, and I should know. I went up against this guy so many times, I never saw him after the first corner. I can't forget about DaveySkills though, he has played against London before and knows how they play so his knowledge and speed will be the key to help Picaso out alot.
Prediction: 5-2 (1st Picaso, 2nd - Stune, 3rd - DaveySkills, 4th - NT 101)
Two brand new ladies to each side and they are sisters, so the first sister sibling rivalry for the CGS. Strobe and Sarah Lou have been playing very hard since the 2008 UK/EU Combine, both managed to get into the Combine Finals with the youngest out of the two, Sarah Lou pipping her sister to win 5-4. Both now have had a few weeks of real CGS training and I think this could be another close game in the final.
Prediction: 5-4 to Sarah Lou
On paper the Birmingham Salvo would be the best team out of the two to win this game, but we ain't playing on paper here. Both Birmingham and London have very talented teams, both have 2 new players each and both really want to win this game. Last year it was London Mint who hammered Birmingham Salvo 12-6 and my gut feeling is that the roles will be reversed this time around.
Prediction: 12-6 to Birmingham Salvo
Overall: Birmingham Salvo 29-16 London Mint
Summary
So my opinion is very clear on that Birmingham Salvo is going to win, but infact I said the exact same thing last year and London Mint showed me that you can never underestimate anyone or team. All I can say is this....This game will be one hell of a show and its one that you cannot miss.
Hope you like the preview, hopefully you will give me your views in comments. :)
