Combine Thoughts Part I

In the first article of the CGS UK Combine and Draft coverage here at Birmingham Salvo we have asked the PC players of the Salvo team for their thoughts going into the Combine. Harriman and AdY will not be attending the combine and have not been asked.
Marc Mangiacapra - "With the combine just around the corner we have been practising hard for the UK/EU tournament. Hopefully I have proven enough to be repicked by Salvo but nothing is for sure going off the US draft."
Pete "pt-" Wright - "I am looking forward to the combine next weekend, I hope that we will do well and I think the team that we are taking should be ready for CGS play by then and should place well in the tournament. I think the individual draft is quite a strange way of doing it especially concerning counter-strike because it is so team based but for the future of CGS it is the right thing. It doesn't really make me nervous doing it this way because I know that at the end of the day it is down to me and my own skill whether he will pick me or not and I hope he will see that I still have what's needed on the CSS team in Salvo."
Sam "RattlesnK" Gawn - "I can’t wait for it to all start again, it’s nearly 4 months since I last played source using the CGS rules at the world finals. It should be an interesting combine as a few team’s have changed players and no-one has practiced CGS rules very much since December. I think we will be able to convert our performance from MR15 to MR9 in time and I’m confident that were going to place well.
For me personally the individual draft makes me more confident that I’m going to get drafted, I played well at the world finals and believe I deserve to get redrafted. If I had a choice I would prefer a team draft for CS but obviously an individual draft is more exciting for the general public. The individual draft does make me slightly nervous as whoever your GM drafts into the CS teams will have to get along with the rest of the team for an extended period of time.
I’ve played under ODEE for nearly two years now and I believe it’s been a successful partnership for both of us. More than anything we believe a team needs the same things – dedication, practice and commitment to becoming the best."
Michael "Bazza" Barrett - "If you had asked me if I was confident a month ago, I would of probably said not really, but things have really started to come together over the past few weeks, and I am really looking forward to the combine, to show my skills and get re-drafted.
I really don't know whether or not I am going to be protected, my aim is to just have a really strong combine, show what I can do, and then go from there really, I know I have what it takes.
I am not really nervous at the moment at all, it's going to be a tough tournament with a lot of good players turning up from across Europe, but I am confident, it's going to be fun!"
