Salvo Quick Fire! #3

Have you ever wondered what the players get up to on their free time or when they are about to play? In this new weekly feature leading up to the finals a question is asked to all the players and you get their views on what the specific topic is.
Commitments
Ahh..commitments, we all have them, whether we are committed to working or committed to family or committed to gaming as these lot are.
This question is our first user question and its from Richard '
Ricko0' Brown. He asks Birmingham Salvo:
How do you juggle your real life with your commitments to the CGS franchise?
Bazza: Well, I try to just schedule everything out as best as possible, allocating time for college, the CGS and going out etc. Usually on a Friday or Saturday I won't practice as much as I am out a lot more, but I make up that time Monday & Tuesday when I am not in college, it depends how much commitment you have, if somethings important, you will make time for it.
DaveySkills: Its pretty easy for me usually, I don't have anything else to do with my time, I am fully commited to the CGS. However, now that summer is here and friends are coming home from Uni its becoming a little harder, but nothing thats impossible to manage. I just take each day as it comes, I rarely plan anything and just do whatever I feel like and it seems to be working so far =P
Mangiacapra: On the off-season of CGS it's not really a problem as we will only practice casually to keep us in shape but before tournaments we will put in alot more effort where everyone will have to sacrifice their time or re-arrange real life commitments. However nights off are often arranged between us if there is something we have to do or attend.
MESSY: I like to separate my business life from my private life. Being a player for the CGS is similar to doing a job so I really don't see any difference. When you are doing a job you'll have to be focused on it and when you are with your family, just be as sweet as possible and enjoy yourself.
Picaso: Its hard if you have a job, but i dont. So its easy to find time to practice for me. Although I sometimes cannot make plans with friends just incase I have to practice.
pt: It's quite difficult sometimes, but regarding CS practice mainly we play in the evenings so that leaves the day time to do what you want to do. Problem is most of us have friends that have day time jobs 9-5 so it sux when you want to do something in the evening but you gotta practise. ODEE gives us the weekend off so thats nice of course, if you treat it like any other job then it is fine although sometimes it doesn't feel like it :p
RattlesnK: I try to balance the two as much as possible but obviously the main practice time is in the evening for us CS players, at times it can be quite demanding when I have a practice sheduled and I want to go out with friends but it's worthwhile in the end. As a team we tend to practice between Sunday to Thursday at some point during the day and take fridays and saturdays off to go out with our friends and relax from playing for a few days, occasionally we take a few days off during the week as well it really depends on how close we are to a tournament. If I had another job it would make it really hard to keep my social life and high standards in gaming if I had a 9-5 job, in that respect i'm really lucky. I know some players have college and university commitments which can occasionally interfere with practice but if you put some time aside to practice and keep onto top of your gaming it really doesn't become much of a problem.
Sarah Lou: Well the convenient thing about The CGS is its not a typically 9am-5pm job, so if I want to go out during the day time and I havent practised yet I can always practise on the evening or vice-versa.
wez: Well we play Sunday-Thursday from about 5pm onwards, so I still go out into town pretty much every Friday and Saturday! All the time apart from then I usually spend with my friends or girlfriend and doing any other odd jobs that I have to do, sometimes we may finish practice early so there may still be an opportunity to go out and do whatever. I think being in CGS is much much better than any other full time job with regards to managing other commitments in life. When I worked a full time job it meant there was no flexability at all and it was hard to manage being in a team aswell as having a girlfriend and any other commitments, but now gaming is my job it gives me about another 45 hours a week to do other stuff!
wilzOOO: Its not that difficult. I go out at the weekends to meet my mates and have a good time. If somebody wants to go out during the week and lets people know, there isn't a problem. Theres more to life than practice.
In terms of my education, it doesn't effect it at all. I have taken time off practice to revise for my exams, and the dates of my trip to America are kind in that it is after I finish them.
Thank you to the players this week.
