Waiting for the Draft - Again

Posted by: Goodeh

Written by Michael O'Dell, Birmingham Salvo General Manager

My last article spelled out a few of things that I am looking for leading up to the UK draft next week and I was pleased that quite a few people took my advice.

So with one week to go my mind needed a break although it is impossible to switch off when you are managing a team at this level. My family and I travelled down to Littlehampton for the weekend to get some time together before I head up to Birmingham. We travelled down in after school on Friday and in the hotel my wife broke the bed the leg collapsed, nothing to do with me I was watching a film. Once the maintenance man fixed the bed the whole family got to sleep and we looked forward to the next day on the beach.

We had fun in Littlehampton and I burnt the back of my legs even though I spent all day telling my girls this is why you put sun tan lotion on, so many people with burnt backs, I forgot to put the lotion on my calf muscles. I did however own at making my sand castle as you can see I took over and that sand castle owned. After that we met up with RattlesnK, who lives there he was playing football with his mates near the beach. We left him to being cool at the seaside and went to the arcades to waste some money but we did win a giant Gloria Hippopotamus cuddly toy so it was worth it.

"that sand castle owned."

We left after we had a go on the water slide and as you can see it was fun.

So that was my fun what have I been doing since last time I wrote, well I have been busy scouting players and watching a lot of players train. As you can in the picture yes I am that sad I have been watching CS:Source play practise matches and I have put a lot of effort into watching and playing Forza 2 at the same time.

"As you can in the picture yes I am that sad I have been watching CS:Source play practise matches and I have put a lot of effort into watching and playing Forza 2 at the same time."

The combine and draft is very short this time so I wanted to do a lot of homework and scouting before we get to Birmingham. The scouting started for me offline at the IG5 CS:Source event continued to i33, the FIWC UK Final and the recent DOA OSPL event at Omega Sektor. Everything I have been doing offline at home watching and talking to people online has been working towards my final team of ten. I am looking for a squad that can work together to win and that is one thing I have been quite successful putting together over the past five years.

Season 2 will be harder than last time as with Ben in place at London their team should be more organised than before. A few people have mentioned it’s the old rivalry continued between us, I do not see it as that fully as the CGS has created something new and exciting that he is yet to experience. I know Ben will love this new experience but of course I hope that we defeat his team and for sure he thinks the same way about us.

So who will I franchise, protect if any, will I drop anyone, my brain is in overdrive and will be until (and hopefully this time I do not get a migraine at the same time) I announce my picks. So I am looking forward to the draft and putting my “perfect” team together will be as hard as trying to get my five year old daughter to eat all her dinner.

I think however I may have already found the perfect Salvo gamer; I am looking forward to finding more see you there!

GL ODEE... Careful on the late night Forza2 spectator sessions. I actually fell asleep during some really late night ones before our draft. It's almost as good as counting sheep under the right settings..
